3v3 Full Ice Hockey was something that was introduced by the NHL before the 2015-16 season to create more offense in Overtime and avoid shootout decided games. It opens up much more of the rink for creativity with the puck because with so much space, it is much more difficult to defend.
Our version is no icing calls, no face-offs, just fast paced hockey controlled by what referee whose job is to back players up when the puck is covered, a goal is scored or a play is off-side. A penalty shot is awarded for penalties and players chase the shooter starting half a zone behind and on one knee.
3-4 team event over a 3-hour block is a lot of hockey in a short time. We bring players together as individual sign ups and do our best to make the teams as even as possible. It is a great way to meet new players and build life skills in learning how to problem solve and develop a bond in a short time.
